Update on Amber

I dropped Amber off at 6:30 AM this morning. That was the last photo I took of her before she was taken inside. I received an update that her ultrasound looked good, so it sounds like there isn’t any metastasis to her organs. A sigh of relief. Unfortunately, however, the specialty clinic I took her to also sees emergencies. Apparently they had a lot of emergency surgeries that had to be done before Amber. While I understand that those emergencies take priority, I felt bad that my kitty had to sit in a cage for nearly 12 hours. At least they have a designated quiet area for cats only. According to whoever was checking in on her, she didn’t seem too frightened so that’s good at least. I finally got an update around 7:45 tonight saying that the surgery went very well and they are quite confident that the margins are good. I won’t get biopsy results for about 2 weeks. The doctor will check on her tomorrow morning and she will be discharged sometime in the afternoon.

Her onesies I ordered from Amazon also came today. They are super cute and I’m quite excited to try them on her. The surgeon gave the okay to use them as long as she doesn’t bother her incision. I look forward to sharing my crafting process to see if they’ll work out.

’Twas the Night Before Surgery…

Tomorrow I drop Amber off bright and early for her surgery. It’s so easy to worry, but I pray and hope that she will do well. The veterinarian wants to keep her for a night so I won’t be picking her up until Friday morning. I will update this blog as I get updates on Amber’s surgery tomorrow.

Giving Onesies a Try

Not only does Amber hate the plastic cone of shame, but she also seems to get a skin irritation in her ears when she wears one long term (we’re thinking she may have some sort of plastic allergy). Tonight I ordered some cute baby onesies from Amazon after being inspired by Purrkins’ story. Searching for cute onesies was kind of fun and made this process a little easier, a little more light-hearted. I’m pretty crafty so I’m hoping I can fashion something out of them to keep Amber out of the cone of shame. I will be sure to update on my crafting process if I am successful!

Counting Down the Days

We are counting down the days until surgery. I am quite nervous but Amber doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. Today, Amber got some supervised time without the cone of shame. She took full advantage by sunbathing and taking some time to groom.

Preparing to be on Three Legs Instead of Four

Amber was diagnosed as having a fibrosarcoma a few weeks ago. I knew that amputation may be an option but I didn’t realize how hard of a decision it would actually be. Amber’s surgery is currently scheduled for November 12th.
